Review by N. Polzin for Educo Rainbow Bead Abacus
Rating:
This is a very well-made, substantial toy. I don’t know how educational it will be for my niece, but at least she gets to play with the pretty colors and move the beads around. (After all, who really knows how to use an abacus besides the Chinese?) If this were to be an educational toy, someone would have to sit with the child and actively instruct, I think. At any rate, it’s a very nice toy and I don’t begrudge the money I spent on it.

This abacus is very sturdy, both my boys often stand on it while it is on its side. The beads are brightly colored and move easily across the bars. NOT made in China.
Anything can be educational, we often count the beads together and make rows of different amounts of beads to compare. Visual tools to learn math are always great because they’ll be learning while playing, without sitting down at a desk – the best way to learn!
